Care Leavers Service
Young people are at increased risk of becoming homeless. It is estimated that each year at least 100,000 young people across the UK experience some form of homelessness.
We believe that no young person should be forced to sleep on the streets.
We support young people aged between 16 and 25 by encouraging them to focus on their strengths and build positive support networks to achieve their aspirations, whether that is returning to education, finding meaningful work or making new friendships.
If you’re aged between 16 and 25, are homeless, facing homelessness, a care leaver, young mum, or you’re just someone looking for a bit of advice, please get in touch. We have a range of homes and information and advice services dedicated to helping young people.
Semi-independent 16+ Service
Our supported and supportive accommodation services for care leavers help them to secure tenancies and address issues preventing them from living independently. As well as receiving practical housing and budgeting support, they are enabled to feel safe, secure, valued in their community and confident in their ability to manage the practicalities of life.
We work, where appropriate, with the young person’s family in order to assist in improving relationships and actively support them to maintain the positive links in their lives.
We also liaise with external agencies to support the work carried out with young people. This includes drug and alcohol services, advocacy services and CAMH services. All packages are person-centred depending on need and assessment from 24/7 1-to-1 support to solo independent external support.
These properties retain the high-quality environment of our 24-hour staffed provisions with reduced on-site staffing and support hours. We continue to assess the needs of our young people to plan and deliver programmes related to different areas such as health, fitness, drugs-substance misuse, dangers of gangs, safe relationships, employment and training.
Nirvana Care and Support Hub offer step-down accommodation to young people moving to 18+ independent living.
These provisions are primarily for our young people that have made significant progress towards developing their independent living skills and have demonstrated that they have the skills to manage living independently.
We are pleased to announce the launch of our latest project which is a residential service based in Kent focusing on 15 to 18 year olds, from the work within our semi-independent provision it has highlighted a need for residential services supporting this age bracket as they are all too often unfortunately placed in unsuitable unregulated accommodation due to the lack of suitable placements.
Our placement is CQC and Ofsted registered We will make a further announcement on opening dates later in the year.
